Tigers Pavlik and Yelena released into the wild in the Amur Region

Two tigers from the Primorye Territory, Pavlik and Yelena, have recently been released into the wild in the Amur Region. The temporary enclosure where the animals stayed for several days after arriving in the region was opened by experts remotely.

“The tigers were in no rush; they did not head for the open door right away,” said Valery Pogosiyenko, head of the preservation department at the Amur Region’s wildlife protection directorate. “As soon as this happens, we will start monitoring them with the help of cameras installed next to the enclosure. We plan to remove the cameras in two days. At the same time, we will start taking apart the enclosure, as we won’t need it anymore.”

When Pavlik and Yelena move beyond the cameras’ view, Amur Tiger Сentre experts will continue monitoring their location using GPS tracking collars.
