Russian Geographical Society Festival to raise awareness of Russian Red Data Book animals

8 October 2015

The Second Russian Geographical Society Festival will take place between 30 October and 8 November at the Central House of Artists (Krymsky Val) in Moscow. For the first time, the exhibition will be divided into sections according to natural zones. There will be displays dedicated to the Arctic and tundra, steppe and subtropics, mountains, forests, oceans, seas and rivers.

Visitors will have a chance to learn about the life of animals listed in the Russian Red Data Book. On display will be habitats of polar bears, tigers, leopards and humpback whales. Guests will be able to see footage captured by trail cameras installed by RGO experts and watch the rare animals in their natural environment.

Each day of the festival will be dedicated to a specific topic, including ethnography, travel, expeditions, history, animated films and animal conservation.

RGO will screen its best documentaries, teach workshops and hold contests, games and lectures.
