Young guests of the RGS Festival are presented with the book, Amurchik, or The Adventures of a Tiger Cub

31 October 2014

In late October-early November 2014, Moscow’s Central House of Artists hosted the 1st Russian Geographical Society (RGS) Festival.

Representatives of the Amur Tiger Centre presented young guests of the festival with a new illustrated book by Sergei Georgiyev, Amurchik, or The Adventures of a Tiger Cub. The main character of this book, which was sponsored by the centre in an effort to raise public awareness of the need to preserve the Amur Tiger in and outside of Russia, is a tiger cub called Amurchik. His home is the taiga, where he lives with his parents, and his life is full of discoveries and adventures.

Next year, the centre is planning to publish a sequel about Amurchik and his forest friends.

During the festival, children and their parents met the toy tiger cub Mur, the new co-host of the TV programme, “Good Night, Kids!” and watched the socially-oriented cartoons, Change Life, for Yourself and the Tiger and The Tiger Hunter,  created by young animators from the Ocean all-Russia children’s centre.
