The tiger known as Kuzya has returned to the banks of the Amur River after making a loop in Heilongjiang Province in Northeast China. In early October, Kuzya swam across the river to China. For a month, he wandered on the outskirts of villages and other residential areas. Chinese experts reported to their colleagues from the Severtsov Institute of Ecology and Evolution in Russia that the tiger was feeding on the abundant wild boar in the area.
On 9 November, Kuzya was photographed for the first time in China by a camera trap in the Taipinggou nature reserve in Heilongjiang.
According to researchers, the tiger looks healthy and well-fed, and the tracking collar round its neck was clearly visible.
Researchers are tracking his every movement.
In May 2014, Kuzya the tiger was released into the wild from a nature reserve in the Amur Region. He wandered around the Khabarovsk Territory and the Amur Region, reaching the Russian – Chinese border and swam across the Amur River this November.
