The Amur Tiger Centre is opening an exhibition at the Far Eastern Street platform of the 5th Eastern Economic Forum that will take place from 4 to 6 September 2019 in Vladivostok.
The centre is putting on an exhibition dedicated to the striped predator and protection measures. Available throughout the forum, the display will showcase the progress that has been made over a period of five years to protect the rare cat in Russia, as well as the current state of the Amur tiger population and the organisation’s plans until 2022.
The highlight of the display in the centre’s pavilion will be a model of tourist clusters in the three specially protected nature areas within the tiger’s habitat, Bikin National Park, Sikhote-Alin Biosphere Reserve and Lazovsky Nature Reserve. The centre will also present its sponsors and programmes for upgrading and re-equipping state-run nature protection services in the Amur tiger’s habitat.
A ‘tiger lot’ will be put on sale at the traditional charity auction. The highest bidder will get a chance to participate in the winter monitoring of the population of the Amur tiger in Lazovsky Nature Reserve, follow the tiger’s trails alongside researchers, learn how to understand the animal’s paw prints, and will personally be given an opportunity to install several trail cameras. If these happen to capture an Amur tiger, the lot buyer will receive the unique photographs.
The business programme of the Eastern Economic Forum also includes discussions devoted to the Environment national project while participants of the sports programme will hold a race in support of rare Far Eastern animals.
