Camera-trap monitoring of Amur tigers continues at Bastak Nature Reserve

29 March 2019

Employees of the research department of the Bastak Nature Reserve in the Jewish Autonomous Region have been monitoring the Amur tiger population across the reserve.

Specialists have been keeping track of the predators since 2012. Over eight years they have obtained photos of eight Amur tigers. Information about these tigers is available on the official website of the Bastak Nature Reserve.

Four tigers currently live at the reserve – Bastak, Zolushka and the tigress’s two cubs from her second litter, one of which is a male and the other’s gender is not yet known. The cubs are over 18 months old. The photos from trail cameras show the cubs alone more and more often, which means that they will start leading an independent life soon.
