The Tiger Day festival was held on 22 September in the capital of the Jewish Autonomous Region, Birobidzhan. Employees of the local Bastak Nature Reserve joined a hundreds-strong march in honour of the symbol of the region – the Amur tiger, which is depicted on the region’s emblem.
Contests, play areas and dance warm-ups were organised in the city park to mark the holiday. Bastak employees and volunteers led creative workshops, competitions and a quiz about tigers. This is Birobidzhan’s third year hosting Tiger Day celebrations.
