On 24-25 June, Khabarovsk hosted the National Forest Forum organised by the Russian Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, the State Duma and the Khabarovsk Territory Government. Sergei Aramilev, general director of the Amur Tiger Centre, delivered a report on wildlife protection in the Amur tiger habitat.
“The wildlife protection situation in the habitat of the Amur tiger differs from the rest of Russia… Some 75 percent of all tigers live in hunting farms, and naturally, it is very important that the hunting farm sector develops so that hunting is available to people of all strata and the number of tigers and ungulates is no diminishing. One of our priorities is to harmonise the environmental regulations. I am glad that there are deputies who understand this,” Aramilev said.
