The government of the Khabarovsk Territory has announced an international research and practical symposium on amur tiger conservation, which will be held in Khabarovsk on 28-29 June. Attending the event will be executive branch officials as well as representatives of environmental organisations and research and educational institutions of Russia, China, North Korea, South Korea, India, Austria, Sweden and the US.

Participants in the plenary meetings will discuss the threats facing the Amur tiger population and the ways to eliminate them. They will also speak about reducing conflicts between the predator and humans, as well as review proposals related to improving efforts to preserve the endangered cat.

“The symposium is aimed at exchanging experience, including with representatives of other countries, because the Amur tiger is a cross-border subspecies. In recent years, our experts have achieved a lot in preserving the population of the Far East taiga master, and they have a lot to share. Participants will also summarise the results of the past 25 years and outline the key areas in protecting the Amur tiger,” said Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Natural Resources of the Khabarovsk Territory Alexander Yermolin.
