Experts from the Centre for the Rehabilitation and Reintroduction of Tigers and Other Rare Animals are planning to return two young Amur tigers, Saikhan and Lazovka, into the wild. The tigers are currently spending their last month at the Tiger Centre. The experts note that the tigers will be released into the wild together.
“Soon, here at this centre, we will no longer be able to enjoy the company of the wonderful tigers Saikhan and Lazovka,” the experts said. “The tigers are soon to return to the wild. We are currently organising and preparing everything necessary for their release. All the work that we are conducting is aimed at keeping the pair together. These tigers have been living together for exactly one year. And they have been getting along perfectly well from the very first day.”
Saikhan was found wounded in mid-January 2017 in the Pozharsky District of the Primorye Territory, while Lazovka was discovered in the Lazovsky District in December 2016. Both tigers were wounded and famished, and had to undergo serious surgeries. Today, the rehabilitation of these predators is coming to an end: the tigers are living in a specially constructed spacious enclosure, where they engage in a lot of active play and perfect the hunting skills necessary for surviving in the wild.
