A new themed train, the Far Eastern Express, has been launched on the Moscow Metro’s Tagansko-Krasnopresnenskaya Line, timed to coincide with the Days of the Far East in Moscow held between 8 and 16 December.

The new train has nine carriages, each of them covered with images devoted to a separate Far Eastern area. For example, the Amur Region carriage dons an image of the Amur tiger, lotus flowers and the Vostochny space centre.

Deputy Prime Minister and Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District Yury Trutnev said the project was designed to introduce the beauty and uniqueness of the region to the public. “We want as many Muscovites and Russian people as possible to know that Russia’s Far East is a magnificent place that is rapidly developing,” he said. “We want people to be able to recognise this gorgeous place, see the wonderful pictures on the train, and read that they can find a job in the Far East. We would like to tell them about the hospitality of the Far East and how attractive and interesting it is. I think the Far Eastern Express is an interesting and important project. The train and each carriage are amazing. We invite you to the Far East. When people get on the train, they will look around, see all this and ask themselves: why not go and see it with my own eyes?”
