The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment has approved the initiative of the Far Eastern Leopards non-profit organisation to name Land of the Leopard National Park and the Kedrovaya Pad Nature Reserve after Professor Nikolai Vorontsov.

Professor Nikolai Vorontsov (1934–2000), Doctor of Biology, paid special attention to the environment and the creation of nature reserves, and was actively involved in the work of the Kedrovaya Pad Nature Reserve. In the 1970s, Vorontsov led important biological research and nature protection efforts in the south of the Primorye Territory.

“It will be a great honour for us if our protected area is named after such an outstanding scientist and politician,” said Tatyana Baranovskaya, director of Land of the Leopard National Park.
