Charity run to support rare wild cats takes place in Vladivostok

6 September 2017

On 6 September, a charity run in support of Amur tigers and Far Eastern leopards took place as part of the 3rd Eastern Economic Forum. Russian Minister of Sport Pavel Kolobkov, other politicians and famous athletes ran in the race.

Participants in the run could choose the 1 km or 5 km distance. The minister of sport picked the long one. “It was not easy because of elevation differences, but I ran at a comfortable speed, enjoyed it and am feeling vigorous,” he said. “If it helps raise awareness about tiger and leopard conservation, then the run would mean a lot.”

The race drew about 600 runners. During the forum, another charity event is taking place: an auction in support of projects to protect threatened and rare animals of the Far East.
