Another Amur tiger is successfully undergoing rehabilitation at the Centre for the Rehabilitation and Reintroduction of Tigers and Other Rare Animals. The recent check-up and behaviour monitoring showed that the animal, which underwent a serious surgery, has good chances of returning back into the wild.
The injured cub was found on 13 January 2017 in the Pozharsky District of the Primorye Territory. To save the animal, a surgery was performed on 25 January to reconstruct the facial bones of the tiger’s skull. The cub has been recovering well and even began hunting.
“We are all very pleased with this cub’s progress. It proved that there are no hopeless cases. The stitches were removed and only the scars remind us that the tiger was on the verge of death,” said director of the Far Eastern branch of the Amur Tiger Centre Sergei Aramilev.
