New Amur tiger cubs in Land of the Leopard National Park

23 May 2016

Scientists have recorded an addition to the Amur tiger family at Land of the Leopard National Park: camera traps captured two female tigers with three cubs.

The national park has conducted comprehensive photo monitoring of large cats and other animal species since 2014. The national park now has over 300 trail cameras, which have expanded the area that is monitored.

The size of the Amur tiger population in Russia has stabilised over the last decade. Based on the 2015 winter count, this predator in the Far East now has a population of at least 540 species.
