Russia intends to send a delegation to the second Global Tiger Forum, which will be held in India next year, Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Sergei Ivanov said at a meeting with actress and animal activist Pamela Anderson.
“Five years ago, St Petersburg, Russia, hosted the first Global Tiger Forum, at the initiative of the Russian President. Incidentally, as far as I know, the second Global Tiger Forum is to be held in India next March, and we will certainly send our delegation there,” Sergei Ivanov said.
Mr Ivanov cited researchers’ data from the latest Amur tiger count. According to their estimates, about 520-540 Amur tigers live in Russia. “These are the largest and, in my opinion, the most beautiful tigers in the world,” he said. He added that the tiger reintroduction programme is being further developed in Russia.
