Abakan children learn about tiger preservation programme

1 December 2014

A presentation of a rare animal species preservation project was held for children in Abakan on 28 November. The children were shown Sergei Georgiyev’s book “Amurchik, or the Adventures of a Tiger Cub” and postage stamps from the stamp series “The Fauna of Russia. Wild Cats,” depicting three felines: an Amur tiger, a Far Eastern leopard and a snow leopard.

Around 100 children took part in the event. The programme included a drawing contest on the tiger and leopard preservation topic. An independent “people’s jury” selected the best drawings. The winners received stamp sets of rare-animal portraits, the paint-with-water book “The World of Wildlife,” and other items carrying endangered species’ logos.
