The third Behaviour and Behavioural Ecology of Mammals scientific conference will be held on 14-18 April at the RAS Scientific Centre in Chernogolovka. The issues on the agenda will include the role of behaviour in the survival of such rare species as the Amur tiger, the Far Eastern and Persian leopards, the Snow leopard, the polar bear and more. The participants will present the results of their studies concerning the behaviour and behavioural ecology of mammals, in particular, the question of love and hate, relations between animals and people, rehabilitation programmes for bear and tiger cubs, and training of counter-terrorist dogs.
The participants will also discuss various methods of research, the results of studying the social behaviour of mammals, communication processes (communication between animals), behaviour related to propagation, interspecies relations, including with people, as well as the physiology and genetics of behaviour.
The conference will be held, as usual, at the Chernogolovka Scientific Centre by the RAS Severtsov Institute of Ecology and Evolution, which is engaged in studying the behaviour of various animals, from bats to lynxes.
The conference organising committee will include leading experts of the RAS Severtsov Institute of Ecology and Evolution, Moscow Lomonosov State University and the Moscow Zoo.
The Children of the World International Charitable Fund will also participate in the conference. The participating children will discuss the study of rare species’ behaviour for their conservation, and will also present reports and questions, which they will discuss with the experts.
