5 February 2014

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment has decided to send an injured male Amur tiger found in the Arkharinsky District of the Amur Region to a rehabilitation centre in the Primorye Territory.

The Amur Tiger Centre has officially confirmed its readiness to accept the tiger for treatment and rehabilitation. The animal will arrive in the early hours of 6 February. An enclosure has been readied, and vets have prepared the medicines and equipment necessary for its treatment.

At the instruction of Konstantin Chuichenko, chairman of the centre’s Supervisory Council, the centre will pay for the tiger’s care.

When the tiger fully recovers, specialists will decide its future. The Red Book predator will possibly be released into the wild. The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment will monitor its treatment and rehabilitation.
