Russian government decrees to expand Far Eastern national park

8 September 2011

The Russian government and the Primorye Territory Administration have coordinated a move to expand a new national park in the Far East, Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Ivanov informed Vladimir Putin earlier today.

According to Ivanov, a governmental decree will be drafted by late this year. Meanwhile, planning efforts have already been launched to open the park for tourists.

"We will include in the territory everything that is directly contiguous with the (Russian-) Chinese border, a number of hunting reserves, as well as tiger and leopard habitats," Ivanov said.
