The naturalists had to light a flare to scare Professor away from the jeep. The tiger ran to the taiga where it was found fast asleep 30 minutes later

After the anaesthetic took effect, the researchers fastened a GPS-ARGOS collar around Professor’s neck, weighed the tiger and took blood, hair, feces and sperm samples for laboratory analysis

The results of the genetic studies showed that the tiger Professor was the mate of the tigress Serga and the father of three cubs born in 2008
