An exhibition called Diverse – Walruses, Polar Bears and Whales opened at the Museum of the World Ocean in Kaliningrad on Marine Mammal Protection Day, or World Whale Day, celebrated on February 19.
Every year in recognition of this day, the museum organises events devoted to marine mammals and how the inhabitants of seas, oceans and ice deserts fight for their place under the sun.
This year, the museum, in cooperation with the Marine Mammal Council, presents a photo series of 45 photographs giving a fascinating insight into the unique world of polar bears, walruses and whales. The photographs were made in different years by researchers and specialists in marine mammal protection.
The authors hope that these images will be appreciated by the guests of the exhibition and will raise public awareness about world marine heritage conservation issues.
