Irina Menyushina worked on Wrangel Island in 1982-2014 as a researcher. Since 1990, she has been a full-time employee of the nature reserve.

She specialises in the behaviour and population ecology of predators in Arctic ecosystems and focuses on polar foxes, snow owls, wolverines, wolves and polar bears.
