Everyone still has a chance to name a leopard

15 January 2015

Submissions will be accepted for another ten days in a contest to name seven big rare animals sponsored by Land of the Leopard National Park. Following numerous requests from contestants, the entry period was extended for one month until 25 January 2015.

Applicants must show an interest in the conservation of the Far Eastern leopard and describe their personal contribution to the effort, however modest.

“We receive entries from the Primorye Territory and more distant regions,” says Valentina Pichugina, head of the environmental education department at Land of the Leopard. “Some of the participants have been involved with the national park for a long time, while for others the contest offers a chance to learn more about these rare animals and share their knowledge with others. It’s nice to see that the contest has inspired people to work together to create something honouring the Far Eastern leopard.”

Land of the Leopard has already received numerous entries. Young contestants are sending photos and pictures of the endangered leopard. But there are also adult contestants – journalists, scientists and professionals whose job or hobby is connected with wildlife and, in particular, the Far Eastern leopard.
