A camera trap in the Sayano-Shushensky Biosphere Reserve has once again captured a female snow leopard with three cubs. The family was spotted for the first time on 18 October. Two weeks later, the mother and its cubs were again caught on camera. The cubs are approximately six months old; researchers have not yet found out their gender. The young snow leopards accompany their mother, play and explore the world.
The snow leopard is a rare feline species listed in the Russian Red Data Book and the Red List of Threatened Species (The International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN). There are currently 70-90 snow leopards living in Russia, nine of them in the Sayano-Shushensky Biosphere Reserve.
