State inspectors carried out a large raid along the southern border of the Sayano-Shushensky Biosphere Reserve, which took over three weeks, with two patrolling groups moving towards each other.
The first group covered almost 300 km on horseback and over 50 km on foot, while the second group patrolled the border on foot and covered about 200 km. As a result, the inspectors found and destroyed 254 metal traps.
During the past few years, the inspectors have focused on the southern part of the reserve, especially on the border zone: the number and duration of raids have increased and the task group has begun to carry out clearing operations. These measures help to monitor poachers and prevent them from getting into the biosphere reserve.
