An image of a snow leopard taken by a camera trap has won the Felines category of the Camera Trap 2019 contest. The photo, taken in the late spring of 2019, features a snow leopard in the Sayano-Shushensky Biosphere Reserve against the backdrop of picturesque mountains and a river.

The Camera Trap 2019 contest took place from 9 September to 25 December 2019. Among its participants were Russian environmental organisations, whose objective is to preserve and research wildlife.

During its five-year history, the contest has received over 5,000 photos and videos from camera traps. According to the organisers, the quality and diversity of images improves every year.

The winners will be awarded on 17 January as part of the opening ceremony of the Primeval Russia festival.
