Results of the sixth My Snow Leopard wildlife festival announced

3 June 2018

The My Snow Leopard international media wildlife festival was founded in 2013 by the Sayano-Shushensky Biosphere Reserve, the Khakassky Nature Reserve and the Khakassian branch of the Russian Geographical Society. This year, the competition accepted 300 entries in the following categories: Creative Writing (poems and prose), Video (footage, animation, video clips), Souvenir and Drawing.

The organisers received more than 200 entries from people all over the country. Most of them sent in drawings, so it was difficult to select a winner in this category. Due to the large age range of participants, this category was divided into three groups: people aged under 11, under 18 and over 18.

The best artists were Darya Izosimina from the Krasnoyarsk Territory (under 11 group), Darya Sergeyeva from Khakassia (under 18) and Alyona Abdulayeva from the Krasnoyarsk Territory (over 18).

Viktoria Itimeneva and Mikhail Zverev from Khakassia won the Creative Writing and Souvenir categories. In the Video category, the jury did not choose a winner, but second place went to Polina Vasilyeva from Khakassia.

The winners enjoyed a motorboat tour around the Sayano-Shushenskoye reservoir to the Katushka waterfall, and a visit to the observation point at the Sayano-Shushenskaya Hydroelectric Power Station.  Environmental education experts told them about the nature reserve’s landmarks and the life and habits of the festival’s symbol, the snow leopard.
