The final events of the My Snow Leopard international wildlife festival, established by the Sayano-Shushensky and Khakassky nature reserves in partnership with the Khakassia branch of the Russian Geographical Society, are underway in the village of Shushenskoye, in the Krasnoyarsk Territory.
The first day of events, which are held as an environmental marathon, included a performance of the musical Alice in a Wildlife Land, the performers of which are the finalists of the festival in the Theater Production, Vocal and Instrumental Music, and Choreographic Production categories. The festival participants showcased their best numbers, with the common theme of searching for a snow leopard. The first day of the environmental marathon also included an exhibition of souvenir art works devoted to the snow leopard and featuring some 300 items made using various techniques, such as molding, forging, drawing, woodcarving and stone carving, ceramics, wool painting, needlework and bead netting.
The My Snow Leopard festival environmental marathon will continue through June 5 and will conclude with a gala performance by the festival finalists in all eight categories. The marathon participants and guests are currently holding environmental events and visiting local museums and the nature reserves’ information centres.
