Snow leopard protection task force to be created in Pozarym Reserve in Khakassia

18 July 2012

A task force will shortly be created to constantly patrol the Pozarym State Reserve in Khakassia, with the aim of protecting snow leopards and other animals there.

State inspectors and staff at the Khakassky Reserve are currently monitoring how the reserve is being protected and used. There are plans to establish a task force to continuously patrol the reserve.

The administration of the Tashtyp District in Khakassia has already held a meeting of the personnel commission under the chairmanship of the director of the Khakassky Reserve Viktor Nepomnyashy. The commission considered over 20 applications from candidates for the position of task force officer at the Pozarym Reserve, of whom eight were selected to go through to the interview stage.

The Pozarym Reserve was established in December 2011 on an area of land covering over 253,700 hectares in Khakassia’s Tashtyp District.
