With support of Russia's National Geographic Society the television network "Moya Planeta" (My Planet) has begun the filming of the "Nature Reserves in Russia" film series. As part of the project, 12 original, 26-minute long documentaries on Russia's nature reserves are set to be filmed. The film series will show efforts put forth during scientific research, endorsement, and popularisation of such reserves nationwide.

Filming at the Sayano-Shushensky State Biosphere Reserve in the Krasnoyarsk Territory was completed this past June. Currently, this reserve is home to the largest group of snow leopards in captivity. Snow leopards inhabit the middle-mountain reliefs and rocky mountain foothills of the Yenisei river valley, with predominance in the mountain steppes and cliffs, although they can be found in the highlands as well.

The documentaries on Russia's nature reserves were filmed from helicopter, small speedboats, and large, slow motor ships. The film crew explored the most inaccessible parts of the reserve.

The film series Zapovednaya Rossia (Nature Reserves in Russia) will be shown in the fall or winter of 2011.
