The second group of beluga whales from Srednyaya Bay in the Primorye Territory will be released into the Sea of Okhotsk in late August, according to the Russian Fishery and Oceanography Research Institute.
According to the institute’s experts, the belugas will undergo a health check-up and a readiness assessment before being released into the Sea of Okhotsk. This time, many belugas will be moved at once.
To date, there are two killer whales and 81 beluga whales in Srednyaya Bay. The first group of six belugas and two killer whales was released in June.
