The National Scientific Centre for Marine Biology under the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences and its division, the Primorsky Aquarium research and educational centre, has signed five-year memorandums of joint research and educational work, including research and development in the field of life sciences and the ocean, with Korea’s Lotte World Aquarium.
The Memorandum envisages the exchange of specialists engaged in scientific research, education, and awareness projects. One of the areas of cooperation is a planned series of conferences in the Republic of Korea and in Russia. Lotte World Aquarium also suggested including a display from Primorsky Aquarium among its expositions. Lotte World Aquarium was established at about the same time as Primorsky Aquarium, but it does not have its own dolphinarium. Perhaps that is why the Korean visitors especially enjoyed seeing the beluga whales during a tour of Primorsky Aquarium.
The visitors met with the veterinary service, employees of the life support systems and other specialists at Primorsky Aquarium, and visited the marine mammal research base.
