Researchers of the Russian Academy of Sciences’ Severtsov Institute of Ecology and Evolution have been on an expedition in the Okhotsk Sea for a month where they are studying the white whale, said Vyacheslav Rozhnov, Head of the Permanent Russian Academy of Sciences Expedition for Research of the Animals on the Red List of Endangered Species and Other Especially Important Species of Russian Fauna, Deputy Director of the Severtsov Institute of Ecology and Evolution, DSc in Biology. The researchers are studying the white whale’s distribution and their frequency in different waters. Mr Rozhnov explained that scientists are not attaching transmitters to the white whale anymore because white whale routes are already understood.
