Leo 164F gets a ‘spicy’ name

18 March 2022

Another inhabitant of Land of the Leopard National Park has received a name and a Keeper. Leo 164F, a young female Far Eastern leopard, is now called Koritsa (Cinnamon). This name was given to her by the administration and students of the International Linguistic School.

A camera trap first photographed Leo 164F in 2018, and she is now about four years old. The healthy and active predator lives in the central part of Land of the Leopard.

"We are proud to be part of this programme. And we understand that being a Leopard Keeper is, above all, a certain responsibility. Our children tell their families and friends about the Far Eastern leopard. Thanks to this, more people get involved in environmental education," said Olga Shevchenko, director of the International Linguistic School.

The title Leopard Keeper is awarded for a contribution to protecting our country's wildlife. The International Linguistic School and Land of the Leopard have been working together since 2021. Its students and teachers visit the national park on excursions and take part in environmental education projects.

The Leopard Keeper programme was launched by Land of the Leopard in 2014. Singer Dima Bilan, zoologist and TV presenter Nikolai Drozdov, Mumiy Troll frontman Ilya Lagutenko, TV and radio broadcasting company VGTRK, Gazprombank, Rosatom and others have already joined the programme.
