Eastern Economic Forum to support Far Eastern wild cats in charity run

12 August 2016

On 2 September, a charity run in support of the Far Eastern leopard and Amur tiger will take place as part of the 2nd Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok. The event will be held at the initiative and under the patronage of Sergei Ivanov, Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office and Chair of the Far Eastern Leopards Supervisory Board, and with the support of the Primorye Territory Administration, the Roscongress Foundation and Amur Tiger Centre. The charity run will raise awareness of rare species conservation and promote healthy living and active leisure.

“We live in the times of noticeable climate and environmental change, air pollution and extinction of rare animals. I believe that in the run-up to the Year of the Environment this charity event at one of the largest business forums will bring the issue into the spotlight of both the political and business elite and the general public. I hope to see a great number of participants in this sport event who wish to contribute to the support of Amur tigers, Far Eastern leopards and other rare species. I am happy to invite all Vladivostok residents and guests to take part,” Sergei Ivanov said.

Participation in the race is open to forum guests, Far Eastern Federal District residents and anyone who cares about the fate of wild cats. The route will run around Russky Island. Runners will cover the distance of one or five kilometres.

The Eastern Economic Forum will take place on 2-3 September on the campus of the Far Eastern Federal University on Russky Island.
