The third Primeval Russia Festival opened today at the Central House of Artists in Moscow. The exhibition devoted to the diversity of Russian nature will continue until 25 February.
The festival opened with the awards ceremony for winners of the Camera Trap 2015 national competition, held for the first time. In the Felines category, first place was awarded to a photo of the Far Eastern leopard Okhotsk taken by cameras in Land of the Leopard National Park.
A master class by Valery Maleyev, photographer and author of the book My Friends the Leopards, will take place on 23 January. As part of the festival, he will share his expertise in photographing the spotted predator. On 6 February, awards will be presented to winners of the Russian Wild Cats competition for children aged 6 to 15. Young artists had to draw pictures on one of the following themes: "Wild Cats in Their Natural Habitat", "Wild Cats. Mothers and Cubs" and "Strong but Vulnerable". Some children chose to draw a leopard.
