Russian Geographical Society Festival to teach visitors about rare animals

8 October 2015

Visitors of the Second Russian Geographical Society Festival, which will take place between 30 October and 8 November at the Central House of Artists in Moscow, will have a chance to learn about the life of animals listed in the Russian Red Data Book. For the first time, the exhibition will be divided into sections according to natural zones. On display will be the habitats of polar bears, tigers and leopards, creating an immersion effect for guests.

Moreover, visitors will be able to see footage captured by trail cameras installed by the experts of the Russian Geographical Society (RGO - Russian acronym) and watch the rare animals in their natural environment.

Each day of the festival will be dedicated to a specific topic, including ethnography, history, animated films and animal conservation. RGO will screen documentaries, teach workshops and hold contests and lectures.

The festival programme also includes a nation-wide geography contest. RGO will also present awards to winners of its first national photo contest. Over 25,000 professional and amateur photographers from across the world participated in it.
