The construction of the first pavement and roadbed layer of the Narvinsky tunnel in the Khasan District of the Primorye Territory has been completed. According to Alexander Shvora, head of the Department of Road Infrastructure, concrete lining of the tunnel’s road section has been completed in the shortest possible timeframe. The approach roads have been covered with asphalt, and the construction of utility networks is currently underway.
In July, Governor of the Primorye Territory Vladimir Miklushevsky inspected the construction site and underscored the importance of completing the project on time, and by late summer, construction vehicles were already driving through the Narvinsky Tunnel.
The 575 metre-long Narvinsky Tunnel is being built as part of a programme to preserve the Far Eastern leopard population: it will separate the motorway and the predators’ migration routes into different levels. The construction is scheduled to be completed in December.
