A celebration dedicated to the rarest large feline in the world will take place in the southwest of the Primorye Territory on 20 September. The festival will begin on the central square of the village of Slavyanka at 11:00 and will be attended by teams from Khasansky District schools, which are part of the Leopard Keeper movement. Leopard Day has been celebrated annually since 2003 in the Khasansky District and since 2008 in the Nadezhdinsky District of Primorye. This year, the festival will also be held in the village of Volno-Nadezhdinskoye.
The Leopard Day programme will feature a fair, team performances, relays, workshops, amusement rides and free leopard face painting. This year’s festival will be international: a delegation from China’s Jilin Province will attend the event.
The organisers of the festival are Land of the Leopard National Park, the autonomous non-profit organisation Far Eastern Leopards, the Khasansky District education directorate and WWF Russia.
