Pacific Fleet to protect leopards

10 April 2015

On 8 April, the command of the Russian Pacific Fleet signed an agreement with the management of Land of the Leopard National Park to organise joint fire-safety measures and to monitor fire risks in the areas that are home to Far Eastern leopards. The national park administration expects the cooperative action to minimise fire hazards.

“The Pacific Fleet has vast technology potential and human resources, and they are willing to cooperate with us to help contain and put out fires,” a representative of the national park administration said. “They showed concern over the recent nearby fires and are ready to make their contribution to protecting the leopards.”
