Nerussa, the female leopard (Leo 7F), can be rightfully called an old-timer at the Land of the Leopard National Park. Scientists estimate that she is about five years old and in the prime of life. Nerussa received her exotic name in 2014 from the Zapovednaya Rossiya Association of Directors of Nature Reserves and National Parks. She is named after the Nerussa River in Russia’s Bryansk Region, and her name therefore symbolically links the Primorye Territory with far-away Central Russia.

In 2012, camera traps took the first images of Nerussa at the national park when she was accompanied by two cubs Leo 8 and Leo 9 (Denekli). She showed up once again with her grownup children in 2013. The cubs soon left their mother and started living on their own.

In 2014, cameras repeatedly took photos of a lonely Nerussa. The situation changed in mid-2014 when she was spotted in the company of a leopard named Leo 36M. Scientists believe that Nerussa has already given birth to new cubs.
