Leopard safety to be discussed at the Nature Without Borders forum in Primorye

7 October 2014

Animal safety issues, in particular, concerning the Amur tiger and the Far Eastern leopard, will be discussed at an international conference on the international and domestic legal framework of the use and protection of fauna. The conference will take place on 23-24 October on Russky Island in Vladivostok during the 8th Nature Without Borders International Environmental Forum.

The discussion will cover over 20 topics on protection of fauna, in particular, the Amur tiger and the Far Eastern leopard. The conference on the legal aspects of protection of the Far Eastern leopard was proposed by the Far Eastern Federal University.

This year the Nature Without Borders forum will focus on cooperation between industrial businesses and environmentalists in carrying out infrastructure projects.

The first forum was held in 2006. Since then, the event has become a popular platform for discussion of important environmental issues between professionals, and for developing solutions. This year, the forum is supported by Primorye Territory officials, the Far Eastern Federal University and the Russian National Committee for Support of UN Environmental Programmes.
