On 25 December 2013, a Far Eastern leopard with white paws, whose images were taken by animal photographer Valery Maleyev, was given the name Lord after a vote.

An 11 person commission selected five names: Lord (26 votes), Khasan (19 votes), Dersu (4 votes), Lou (1 vote) and Zephyr (1 vote). Each of these names received a number, and the numbers were written on ballot balls. Yelena Salmanova, Deputy Director for Research and Environmental Education at Leopard Land National Park, drew ballot ball No 4 with the name Lord.

After the ballot ball was drawn, the final winner was determined from among 26 people who suggested the name Lord. The winner’s name was Polina Kotova from the city of Kamensk-Uralsky in the Sverdlovsk Region.
