In March 2013, animal photographer Valery Maleyev took a picture of an unusual “white gloved” Far Eastern leopard in the Land of the Leopard national park.
Any Russian resident can take part in the contest by suggesting a name for the leopard. This name will be used in all scientific documents. The commission of the national park’s employees and invited experts will choose the five best names from among the contestants. The winner will be awarded a prize. Other contestants will receive gifts and certificates in different categories.
According to the national park’s director Andrei Borodin, the chosen name may become one of the symbols of the Primorye Territory, as the “white gloved” male leopard is a unique representative of Far Eastern leopards in the reserve.
