On June 5 and 8, volunteer events took place in Vladivostok and in several towns in the vicinity of the Leopard Land National Park to mark World Environment Day.
The park employees joined volunteers from the local division of the Russian Geographical Society to hand out leaflets about the Leopard Land National Park and the rules for visiting the nature reserve.
Thanks to the efforts of Pyotr Brovko, the chairman of the Primorye Division of the Russian Geographical Society, many geography students from the Far Eastern Federal University also took part in the event.
Leopard Land employees face painted local residents to look like leopards. Passers-by were photographed alongside leopard cuddly toys. Elementary school children had made the toys as gifts for the national park.
The local residents greatly enjoyed the events, which will from now on be made a regular feature. In good weather, volunteers will hand out Leopold Land leaflets and will hold face painting sessions in Vladivostok and neighboring towns every weekend.
